Fixed network camera series

by Mark Rowe

The new Axis Q17 Series fixed network cameras are offered by the Reading-based electronic security product distributor Norbain. The series comes with ‘Dynamic Capture’ which helps to produce clear images under challenging light conditions. The Axis Q1775, pictured, and Axis Q1775-E Fixed Network Cameras feature 10x optical zoom and auto focus as well as WDR – Dynamic Capture. The network cameras are the companies say for video surveillance installations that require coverage of great distances as they provide a wide overview, as well as capturing image detail for identification.

The cameras feature CD-quality two-way audio in 48 kHz, therefore producing quality recordings for audio analytics. The use of network cameras inclusive of audio analytics provides the opportunity to detect incidents as early as possible. Unusual sounds which would otherwise not be detected are picked up and can trigger the system, the firms add.

For those who already own an Q1755, it is possible to upgrade. The form of the technology also means that the Q1775 can be integrated with other products including explosion-protected camera housings and pan/tilt solutions.

The Q1775-E is outdoor-ready and has been designed for security installations used to monitor entrances, exits and perimeters, and for pole mounting for video surveillance of car parking or general city surveillance. The Axis Arctic Temperature Control allows the IP66, IK10 and NEMA 4X-rated Axis Q1775-E to operate at temperatures as low as minus 40 degrees C (minus 40 degrees F).

The Q1775 and Q1775-E offer motion detection, an active tampering alarm, shock detection and Gatekeeper-functionality (guarding a gate and zooming in on detected objects). They deliver multiple individually configurable H.264 and Motion JPEG video streams at full frame rate and offer edge recording for optional on-camera storage of video footage.
