Factory upgrade

by Mark Rowe

The L’Oréal operation in Germany employs 2,000 people and includes a factory producing skin and hair care products plus a large logistics centre to distribute to the German and Austrian markets. For several decades now these Karlsruhe sites have been covered by CCTV from the German product company Geutebruck. In the most recent upgrade at the start of 2013, a new Geutebruck IP video system was installed.

As the new products were still compatible with the earlier analogue systems, much of the infrastructure could be incorporated into the new solution. This included for example, new HD cameras being mounted on existing external lighting masts, with the old twisted-pair telephone cabling being used for data transmission. For this project advice, system design and project implementation were all by euromicron solutions GmbH, Geutebruck’s local sales partner.
