Camera range

Samsung has added to its range of IP and network video surveillance products with six new cameras which use WiseNetS, Samsung’s latest Digital Signal Processor (DSP) chipset specifically designed for its VGA resolution IP cameras.

As well as those features Samsung users have come to expect, such as third generation Samsung Super Noise Reduction (SSNRIII) and Samsung Super Dynamic Range (SSDR), the WiseNetS DSP equips each of the new compact ONVIF compliant VGA cameras with features including simultaneous multi-streaming of video at up to 30 frames per second with a choice of MJPEG or H.264 compression methods, Power over Ethernet (PoE) operation and polygonal privacy masking.

Besides standard motion detection, all WiseNetS cameras also have built-in face detection, which can identify the presence of human faces and alert operators in a number of ways, including via e-mail. This feature can also be set on a schedule by days of the week and will even detect faces present behind polygonal privacy masks.
The quality of the VGA (640 x 480) images captured by WiseNetS cameras is enhanced by the latest CMOS image sensor, while Progressive Scan optimises video capture of moving objects, making it possible, for example, to read car number plates without a motion blur effect. Selected units also feature bi-directional audio for effective two way communication.

The six new cameras comprise the SNB-1001 fixed camera, SNO-1080R weatherproof IR camera, SND-1011 fixed dome camera, SND-1080 varifocal dome, SNV-1080 vandal resistant varifocal dome and the SNV-1080R vandal resistant varifocal dome with built-in IR. All models, with the exception of the SNO-1080R, have a built-in Micro SD/SDHC memory slot which provides a facility for images of alarm events to be stored on board the camera, whilst the SNB-1001, SND-1080 and SNV-1080 offer bi-directional audio communication.

Tim Biddulph, IP Product Manager for Samsung Techwin Europe Ltd, said: “These six cameras are collectively able to provide a cost effective solution for virtually any small to medium size applications including car parks, hospitals, offices, schools and retail environments. Furthermore, when used in conjunction with our recently introduced four channel SRN-470D and sixteen channel SRN-1670D network video recorders that have the look and familiarity of a DVR, they are able to deliver a complete cost effective network video surveillance solution which can deliver high quality live and recorded images. What’s more, the cameras are fully compatible with Samsung’s NET-i Ware recording management software which is available in eight, 16, 32 and 64 channel versions. The software is designed to facilitate the administration, control, monitoring and recording of images captured by Samsung’s full range of network camera and domes. This allows images to be recorded and played back via a PC across the network from anywhere in the world, keeping people connected 24/7 with their security systems wherever they may be.”

Available from all Samsung distributors, the new WiseNetS VGA cameras are offered with full support services from Samsung Techwin Europe Ltd., including free system design, free technical support and a full three-year warranty.
