Dahua Technology reports the adoption of Theia’s 4K lens family on its IPC-HF81230E Ultra HD Box Camera. The security manufacturer describes 4K resolution as a breakthrough in image processing technology. Dahua says that its IPC-HF81230E Ultra HD Box Camera delivers four times the resolution of standard HDTV 1080p cameras and offers picture quality and image details. 4K resolution adds to the clarity of magnified scenes, enabling the HD Box Camera to view or record forensic video from large areas. A SONY STARVIS image sensor increases the pixel size to 1.85 µm, so that the box camera can deliver 4K resolution video in low light, the company adds.
Theia Technologies LLC is an IP video surveillance lens specialist. The varifocal lens family covers a horizontal field of view from 112 to 9 degrees, with the SL410 4-10mm lens and SL1250 12-50mm lens. The lenses maintain 4K resolution by day and night with less than 5 microns focus shift in near infra-red (IR) light, the firms add. The lenses are described as compact given their large format, at only 52mm long. Compared to other commonly found 1/1.7” format 4K lenses with similar features, they are much smaller, allowing them to fit into smaller enclosures.
The CS mount lenses are available in manual, DC-auto versions; fully motorized, board and C mount versions are also available. Mark Peterson, VP Advanced Technology, at Theia, said: “We are excited to cooperate with Dahua. The emergence of 4K resolution in video surveillance will empower analytics-rich applications such as facial recognition, behavioral studies and ANPR, where a high level of detail and precision is required. The technology is also an obvious choice for situations in which there is a lot of activity or large areas where there are limited options for placing cameras yet the entire area needs covering such as in shopping centers, stadiums or open public spaces.”
And Daniel Chau, Dahua Overseas Marketing Director said: “When paired with Theia’s 4K lenses, Dahua’s IPC-HF81230E Ultra HD Box Camera is able to deliver very high image quality to the market enabling analytics and other high detail applications. When combined with Dahua’s recording solution, these 4K cameras provide video surveillance professionals with probably the most advanced imaging technology available.”
