Integrated Systems

Video management software

by Mark Rowe

American Dynamics, part of the Security Products business unit of Tyco, has introduced the latest version of its VideoEdge VMS (video management software).

The US firm says that it identified critical features for safety and security. In retail, for example, loss prevention requires video analytics and integration with Point of Sale systems that provide real-time access to intelligence to help pinpoint suspicious transactions backed up by video. VideoEdge provides these results in seconds, the makers say, allowing retailers to run exception reports and visualise the data. The makers stress the ease of installation and low maintenance.

The product also builds upon its unification with access control with a ‘Swipe and Show’ feature that provides a layer of security for places like large buildings with open turnstiles, oil refineries, water supply plants, nuclear plants, and other critical infrastructures requiring visual authentication of personnel.

Stephan Beckmann, Product Marketing Manager, EMEA for American Dynamics, said: “There are some applications where the demands placed on the video management system are core to daily operations. VideoEdge is built on a robust foundation that provides the most security-critical features like analytics and security unification whilst ensuring continuity with worry free video fail-over.”

Using the company’s victor unified client, operators can access live and recorded video and can manage “investigator mode” while monitoring live events. victor has the UL 1076 certification, the American standard for proprietary burglar alarms.

The VideoEdge VMS is available through American Dynamics’ worldwide distributors.
