Surveillance software

by Mark Rowe

Established in 1996, Aralia’s surveillance software offers forensic search and integrated PSIM (physical security information management) from a single supplier. Aralia has installed systems on four continents, including what is claimed to be the largest CCTV system in the world.

Aralia’s Salix software is designed to integrate with video management systems to provide PSIM to legacy installations. The software eliminates the need to replace any existing hardware, it is claimed. Besides cost savings, the software will work on a small single camera system or large control centres and can even process data from a moving platform such as a UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle). This lets a user survey surrounding areas remotely, gathering greater information from safety. By allowing these users to identify incidents remotely the system can bring greater protection not only to those operating the system but the responders to incidents. Added features include integrated GIS with a built-in overlay to display alarms and object ranking, allowing security breaches to be quickly identified in real time; and situational awareness, allowing users to be alerted via mobile platforms such as tablets and phones. These fully integrated features provide the user with richer scene information no matter the size and scale of the observed area. This autonomous solution can be added to existing video surveillance systems to provide automated alarming, full forensic searching and report generation. Seamlessly integrating with existing physical security devices and remaining compatible with existing video management systems.
