Security rating approval

by Mark Rowe

After accreditation, security rating approval to Loss Prevention Certification Board standard LPS 1775: Issue 7 – SR3 and SR4 has just been secured by Sunray Engineering for its ‘ExcluDoor’ single, leaf and a half and double security doorset, when installed with the Pickersgill-Kaye surface mount HS100 Series, single and multipoint lock, pictured.

David Evans, Sunray’s Managing Director, said: “We are delighted to become the first steel door manufacturer to achieve a full range of LPS 1175 level three and four approvals for our doors fitted with Pickersgill-Kaye’s single and multi-point locking systems. We embarked on the programme as we had been initially impressed by the quality and unique modular design of the HS100 Series locking system and the commonality of the centre module of the single and multipoint versions. This accreditation now allows specifiers and end users to have a wider choice of locking solutions, especially where aesthetics are becoming more prevalent when the products are specified by architects or designers for use in public accessed areas.”

Pickersgill-Kaye’s single and multipoint locks feature stainless steel lock cases, colour matched lock and rod covers, cylinder guard protection and hardened steel bolts with anti-thrust prevention. They have also been independently cycle tested to in excess of a million operations.

Pickersgill-Kaye’s High Security Locking Product Manager Mark Tailby said: “This new accreditation covers our single and multipoint locking solutions up to LPCB Standard LPS 1175 Security Rating 4 when used on Sunray’s ‘ExcluDoor’ single and double security doorset range. We conducted a series of independent tests beforehand to assure ourselves everything met the standards required before embarking on the full test programme with Sunray Engineering and it is the first time we have attained approval to SR3 and SR4 levels on a complete suite of high security locking products with one door manufacturer.”

Developed to protect national infrastructure and high risk commercial installations, the Pickersgill-Kaye locks and Sunray doors provide high levels of physical attack resistance, it is claimed.
