Nest Protect distributor

by Mark Rowe

After a distribution agreement between WF Senate’s parent company Rexel and Nest Labs, WF Senate – the electrical supplies and services distribution company – has rights to supply the new Nest Protect and Learning Thermostat products.

Acquired by Google in January 2014, Nest Labs is a home automation company that offers sensor-driven, Wi-Fi enabled, self learning, programmable thermostats and smoke detectors, such as the Nest Learning Thermostat and Nest Protect. Nest Protect is a smoke and Carbon Monoxide (CO) alarm, which provides spoken alerts on what and where the problem is. Communicating with other alarms in the system, even when Wi-Fi is unavailable, Nest Protect will also send a message to Nest Thermostat to turn off the boiler, should it sense CO.

By using a combination of sensors and algorithms, the thermostat creates a personalised temperature schedule, which eliminates the need for a separate programmer. Adapting immediately, the Nest Learning Thermostat creates a custom temperature, which will automatically turn down when the thermostat senses the house is empty, saving energy, the firms say. With an app, users can retrieve information and control all Nest products from a smart phone or tablet.

The Nest range is available in both mains powered and battery formats. Ivan Gill, National Sales & Commercial Manager for Citadel, says: “This is a really exciting venture for WF Senate, as it will enable us to bring customers the very latest advances in innovative technology.”

WF Senate is an electrical wholesaler, distributing electrical products from manufacturers in all electrical areas, along with its in-house brands. The company boasts over 20,000 products and over 100 branches. Go to www.wfsenate.co.uk.
