Managed control room service

by Mark Rowe

SmartTask and Video Receiving Centre Ltd (VRC) are launching a managed control room service, for security businesses to monitor out-of-hour guard check-calls, missed shifts and patrols. SmartTask has integrated its employee scheduling and mobile workforce management software with VRC’s monitoring platform so raised alerts are responded to within 180 seconds, the firms say.

Paul Ridden, CEO of SmartTask says: “For many smaller security firms, it is simply not viable to maintain an out-of-hours control room in-house to monitor the safety of staff and customer properties. Following demand from our customers, we have worked closely with VRC to develop a simple and affordable alternative that further enhances our workforce management software to provide increased protection for remotely-based security teams.”

The outsourced service will use VRC’s remote video response centre in Yate, South Gloucestershire, to monitor scheduled attendance, check calls and patrols and respond to any alerts generated by SmartTask. The facility is NSI Gold Category II certified with vetted, SIA trained personnel.

One of VRC’s operatives will now follow up any missed shifts, check calls or patrols within seconds, firstly contacting the guard and if an issue does exist a designated duty manager.

James Smith, Director of Video Receiving Centre Ltd says: “Using our cutting-edge monitoring technology has allowed us to integrate seamlessly with the SmartTask software. By combining these industry-leading solutions we are able to deliver added visibility and control for SmartTask’s customers, helping to overcome some of the operational challenges they face.”
