Lock tested, integrated

by Mark Rowe

The Sentinel M commercial multipoint lock is the latest from Adams Rite, part of Security Solutions, a division of ASSA ABLOY UK. The product has been tested to PAS24 with three Aluminium Systems companies.

The Sentinel M has been integrated within thermal doorsets from Jack Aluminium Systems, Kestrel Aluminium Systems and Kaye Building Systems. According to the makers, the product offers three points of trusted locking, while still allowing members of the public escape, without prior knowledge of how to use the device.

The testing took place in the ASSA ABLOY UKAS accredited test lab, providing the benchmarks to show that each doorset offered ‘Enhanced Security’ and has the capability to withstand sustained usage within a variety of environments, including education, commercial and retail.

Having undergone timed manual attacking methods, hard and soft body impact tests, and static load testing up to 4500N the doorsets were tested to PAS24.

Tim Almond, Business Development Manager for ASSA ABLOY, Security Solutions, said: “Crime statistics show that burglaries increase by up to 20% when the clocks go back, so it is crucial that commercial multipoint locks meet all the latest standards, particularly at this time of year. Through extensive testing, Sentinel M has proven to be resistant to casual or opportunist attack via brute force and manipulation. The Sentinel M range not only addresses security requirements, but has been specifically designed to fit the thermally efficient door systems that our partners have created, according to the regulations stated in Part L of the Building Regulations. We are looking forward to continuing to support our partners and have plans on the horizon to integrate with several more companies.”

The Sentinel M range features a three-point panic lock, a three-point deadlock, and a single-point panic lock. Supported by a range of accessories – including panic touch bars, cylinder escutcheons and a range of 17mm Euro Profile cylinders – the new multipoint lock range caters for a range of commercial applications, according to the company.
