Designing out Extremism and Crime in the Built Environment is the title of the next Security Institute masterclass. March 7 from 9am until 4pm at the engineering firm Arup, 8 Fitzroy street, London, W1T 4BQ. Tickets are £95 for members and £145 for non-members. The speakers and subjects are:


Chris Tomlinson, Senior Consultant – Arup, The built environment as a security risk management challenge

Nick Goldby, Senior Security Consultant – Arup, Police design advisors and their role in making the built environment more resistive to extremism and crime.

James Skelton, Product Manager – Marshalls, Counter terrorism design measures and how to work hostile vehicle vehicle mitigation into built environment design.

Rinus Meelis, CEO – Meelis & Partners, Combining the best aspects of crime prevention through environmental design and security risk management in the built environment.

Henk Neddermeijer, CEO – Kernel Groep Netherlands, Combining the best aspects of crime prevention through environmental design and security risk management in the built environment (Co presentation with Rinus Meelis).

Prof Ken Pease – The carbon cost of crime and selling security as a sustainability enabler.

Pat Cogan, Regional Development Officer – ACPO, Secured by Design 2012: An Overview.
