Integrated Systems

Exacq, Sensormatic integrate

by Mark Rowe

Exacq Technologies, part of the Security Products business unit of Tyco, has integrated with the Sensormatic anti-theft system from Tyco Retail Solutions. The combination of exacqVision video management system (VMS) and the Sensormatic EAS system gives retail customers a unified solution to capture loss event data, provide video recognition for loss prevention within one interface, the firms say.

The Sensormatic pedestals capture loss prevention data to create a surveillance zone at the end of checkout lane or at the store exit. When an alarm event occurs, the system notifies store staff when someone exits the store or if merchandise has the electronic article surveillance (EAS) tag attached.

With the exacqVision integration, retail customers have an added layer of video surveillance. exacqVision network video recorders (NVR) can receive data from the LDM module via a serial-over-IP port. Customers can see live video images of the alarm event as it is occurring or search previous EAS system events and see the corresponding exacqVision video at the time the event happened. This integration enables retail store managers to identify suspects.

This integration requires exacqVision server version 6.6 and Local Device Manager Configurator version 8.3 to connect the Sensormatic pedestals and manage data output. Visit www.exacq.com.
