FARGO printer launch

by Mark Rowe

HID Global is showing the FARGO C50 printer at this week’s CARTES Secure Connexions Event in Paris in Hall 3, Stand 3F002 at the Paris Nord Villepinte Exhibition Centre from November 19 to 21. It’s an entry-level model in its FARGO Direct-to-Card (DTC) line of printer. It’s described as a plug-and-play product, said to be suitable for small and medium-sized businesses, retailers and colleges who want to eliminate the waits and shipping charges of outsourcing their ID issuing to a service bureau.

Craig Sandness, vice president of product marketing, Secure Issuance with HID Global, said: “The C50 printer brings the trusted quality of HID Global’s FARGO printer solutions to the market at a price point that enables small and medium-sized businesses to enjoy Genuine HID reliability together with the easiest possible out-of-the-box experience. The printer includes everything that is required to quickly and easily create full-colour, personalised credentials, without having to buy or install any additional components, accessories or software. Its affordable hardware and consumables make the C50 direct-to-card printer the ideal introductory solution for emerging markets and smaller organisations, while enabling virtually anyone to print their own credentials whenever, wherever they desire.”

The FARGO C50 printer includes features such as an all-in-one printer ribbon and card-cleaning cartridge to replace and reload when required. The printer also includes HID Global’s Workbench diagnostic utility that monitors printer health, provides instant system status, and lets users know if and when routine maintenance is needed. The printer’s built-in Swift ID badging software lets a user create personalised IDs,. The product is also interoperable with HID Global’s Asure ID card personalisation software for more design, database management and technology card encoding. The printer can also be used with the company’s EasyLobby Visitor Management Software, which enables users to create and issue secure guest badges.

The C50 is works with other products in the Genuine HID range. It is also backed by online and telephone technical support, and a two-year warranty. The new direct-to-card printer is available immediately. Visit www.hidglobal.com
