Stadium deal

by msecadm4921

A three-year contract with the South Yorkshire-based League Two side, Rotherham United Football Club, has gone to G4S Secure Solutions (G4S).

From July, G4S will be providing a range of security services at the club’s new site, the New York Stadium, including car parking marshals, crowd searches, ticket checks and stewarding. G4S will secure the club’s first game at its new site, for a pre-season friendly against Barnsley FC on July 21. The fourth tier season starts by hosting Burton Albion. G4S’ work with professional football clubs includes Manchester City and Rangers FC and comes following the business’ temporary work with Rotherham during its time at Don Valley Stadium in Sheffield.

Eric Alexander, managing director of Regional Security at G4S Secure Solutions, said: “We are delighted with our new partnership with Rotherham United Football Club and are looking forward to developing our relationship and supporting the transition to their new stadium. It is great to be expanding our footprint in this part of the country and we are looking forward to using our extensive experience to provide a seamless security solution whilst expanding our football credentials.”

Briefly, the stadium was built on the former Guest and Chrimes factory site, which created the first New York fire hydrants to be exported to the United States and led to the area becoming known to locals as New York. For details and for a webcam visit The Millers

Rotherham United’s Stadium Manager, Paul Davis said: “Having worked with G4S previously during the transition between our old and new stadiums, we are confident that they can provide the expertise required to ensure the safety of our players and fans at all times.” For more on G4S, visit www.g4s.com/uk
