Singapore license status

by Mark Rowe

The UK-based Integrated Security Consultants Ltd (ISC Group) has announced that ISC Singapore has been awarded Security Agency license status. It means the company can offer its security and crowd management services in the country.

This is described by the company as another step on the journey taken when the company expanded into Asia in 2013. ISC Singapore has been supporting DTZ Facilities and Engineering Pte Ltd with recruitment and selection of the 24/7 full-time site security team for the SGD $1.33bn Singapore Sports Hub, which opened earlier this year.

The new license enables ISC to offer services to events and venues across Singapore, including: event and venue security provision, crowd management, safety planning, crowd safety resources, consultancy (such as venue layout and design, deployments, risk assessments and operations), event and project management, venue site crew, manned guarding and corporate security.

ISC has clients including Wembley National Stadium Ltd (London) and the American National Football League.

ISC Singapore Senior Director, Roger Hooker, says: “We are delighted to continue and further develop our provision to the events industry in Singapore and look forward to helping to make a positive contribution, offering specialist advice as well as plenty of practical hands-on support. This license enables us to continue to develop new partnerships in 2015 in what is an exciting marketplace with great opportunities and a growing vibrant events scene.”

About ISC Singapore

It’s a subsidiary of the ISC Group, based at Wembley National Stadium, north London. The ISC Group provides services including crowd management, event and venue security, manned guarding and consultancy.

ISC Singapore staff are getting involved in local events in their spare time too.

Senior Director Roger Hooker recently completed his first duathlon which was followed by a sprint up the Swissotel’s 73 floors with 1336 fire exit stairs the next morning. He says: “This is our research. Planning the operational needs for events is what we do; it’s in our blood and we love it, but I think when you work on events it’s also important that from time to time you experience it from the other side, as a participant. At ISC Singapore, as with our UK office, we encourage our staff to sign up for these local events, to set themselves a challenge, and to support the local community. Not a weekend goes by in Singapore without a run, cycle race, or some sort of outdoor mass participation activity. And our business can support those events too.”

This ethos of getting involved forms part of a wider corporate social responsibility remit. ISC Singapore has already supported many events in Singapore and London. Staff signed up for the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon on December 7, 2014 and the Virgin Money London Marathon on April 26, 2015. “We wanted to participate in both the Singapore and London Marathons – home cities for ISC. In London we will be raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support and The Neurone Foundation – both great causes.

“It’s a motivating and valuable experience. It can help build teams and show each of us that perhaps we are capable of more than we thought. I hope that as we recruit more staff and our team increases, we will have more opportunities to get involved, supporting our local communities in Singapore in some new and exciting ways. It’s a great way to say ‘come work for us as we like to have fun too’, and establishes a supportive culture – and keeps us fit!”

ISC Singapore so far has taken part in the Commando Challenge, the Marina Run, the Sundown Half Marathon, the ISCA Run, Tough Mudder (Perth), the Straits Times Run, the Newton 32KM Challenge, the Singapore Airlines Charity Run, the Cancer Charity- Run for Hope, the Singapore Duathlon, the Swissotel Vertical Marathon and the Standard Chartered 2014 Singapore Marathon.
