SIA NI op

by Mark Rowe

Two door supervisors were found working illegally in Ballymoney during an operation on Saturday night, August 31, the Security Industry Authority (SIA) reports.

SIA investigators supported the Police Service Northern Ireland to carry out the operation across four venues including bars and clubs. Of the eight door supervisors checked two were found to be working illegally, without an SIA licence. Further enquiries are being taken forward by the SIA.

Head of Investigation Sharon Roberts said: “I am disappointed that after almost four years of SIA licensing there are still areas in Northern Ireland where unlicensed door supervisors are being deployed. We will continue to work closely with the PSNI to ensure that those working in the private security industry are properly vetted, trained and licensed and that unlicensed individuals are removed from working in the industry.”
