Press ups for charity

by Mark Rowe

A team from St Anns Shopping Centre in Harrow including four Incentive FM staff completed 20,000 press ups in under five hours, in aid of a local charity this month.

Operations Manager Shaun Wall from Incentive FM created and ran the event with Centre Manager Pieter Strombeck from JLL, and both did the challenge. The team also included Duty Manager Daniel Lewis, Lorenzo Kerr, Cleaning Operative, and Sammy Al Ali, Security Officer, all from Incentive FM, and Wilson Emmett, Surveying Executive for JLL. They took on two teams from local rival shopping centre St Georges and the Fitness First branch in Harrow.

The team raised a total of £2500 for St Luke’s Hospice in Harrow, including £700 of prizes donated by tenants of the centre. They took only four hours 45 minutes to complete the 20,000 press-ups, cheered on by supporters. Despite their best efforts, the other two teams didn’t manage to finish.

Shaun Wall from Incentive FM said: “Following last year’s challenge of 10,000 press ups in four hours at King’s Cross Station for Macmillan Cancer Support, we wanted to go one better this year. I am so proud of our team and their efforts for this great cause, and we are very grateful for the fantastic support from customers and tenants in the centre. However none of us is keen on doing any press ups for a while!”
