Gurkha accolade

by msecadm4921

4S Gurkha Services, a subsidiary of the UK’s security company G4S Secure Solutions (UK), has been ranked among the top five per cent of security companies out of a total number of more than 700 approved contractors, by the Security Industry Authority (SIA) auditors.

Scoring 139 points out of a possible 168 in the SIA’s Approved Contractor Scheme (ACS), the business has improved by 26 points on its 2011 results.

John Whitwam, Managing Director at G4S Gurkha Services, said: “The significant improvement on our ACS score in just 12 months is a fantastic achievement and testament to the service, commitment and dedication that our Gurkha Services team provide to our clients.

“To be recognised by the industry’s leading authority as a business competing within the top five per cent of the country, is an accolade which cements our reputation as a leader in the sector and gives the impetus to work even harder in 2012.”

G4S Gurkha Services provide former British Army Gurkhas, who assist with a range of critical security tasks from securing Critical National Infrastructure sites to guarding commercial properties. G4S employs more than 600 Gurkhas, making it the largest civilian employer of former British Army Gurkhas in the UK. The ACS is the recognised performance standard for the security industry and requires an organisation to undergo an independent audit, to be registered as ‘approved’.

SIA audits include the review of processes that manage an organisation’s services and prescribes systematic control of activities to ensure customer needs and expectations are met.   Other G4S security services assessed in the audit included guarding, CCTV operation, door supervisors, close protection, key holding and cash or valuables in transit (CVIT).
