Critical head at Mitie

by Mark Rowe

David Cookman has joined the contract company Mitie as a sector specialist to head the critical security environments (CSE) portfolio for the FM firm’s total security management business.

Mitie says that its CSE sector encompasses contracts within the critical national infrastructure (CNI), nuclear, defence, high risk manufacturing, regulated environments, power generations, secure supply chain, and data centres and networks sub-sectors. David Cookman joined Mitie’s security arm five years ago as the account director at AWE.

In his role as sector director, David has a national remit and is tasked with ensuring compliance, quality, expertise, and best practice for clients with critical requirements. He will also work with a specialist management team which has full operational management of the CSE portfolio from service delivery through to business continuity and disaster recovery. He’s a member of ASIS, ACS and BSA Security Group.

David Cookman said: “My focus will be on working with and building the right team to ensure we provide exceptional service and expertise to our clients.
“Mitie’s approach to focusing on key sectors within its total security management business, like critical security environments, ensures our teams have the right level of skills and knowledge to give peace of mind to our clients that they are in safe hands.”

And Jason Towse, managing director of People Services for Mitie’s total security management business, added: “David’s appointment is fantastic for Mitie; his background and experience are the ideal ingredients to add to our team as we focus on specialist sectors, and work ever closer with our clients to mitigate their risk, add value, and develop strategic partnerships.”
