The East Anglia-based security contractor GSL Dardan has recently achieved ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS) accreditation for areas of operation managed by its Norwich head office. This complements the company’s existing Integrated Management System accreditation which includes ISO 9001 and ISO 18001 across the whole business.
Briefly, ISO 14001 is an internationally recognised standard that sets out the framework of essential elements for putting an effective environmental system in place. The key elements alongside the many general requirements include: the development of a clear policy; planning, implementation and operation; checking and undertaking corrective actions; and ensuring a management review process is in place.
Gaining the ISO 14001 standard allows GSL Dardan to monitor its business activities and reduce its impact upon the environment whilst ensuring services become more efficient and cost-effective. The guard firm adds that it has shown that it is dedicated to limiting their environmental impact whilst showing commitment to providing a quality service to their customers.
Mark Duffy, Managing Director, pictured, said: “ISO 14001accreditation is testament to our continuing efforts to improve the systems and processes which underpin our services, while ensuring we become a sustainable business focussed on reducing our impact upon the environment.”
