Technical manager

by Mark Rowe

Aico, the domestic mains-powered Fire and Carbon Monoxide (CO) alarm manufacturer, has appointed Andy Speake as National Technical Manager. Andy, pictured, joined the firm in 2016 in a technical capacity, moving to IT Manager. He comes from a B2B IT background, including roles in technical support and consultancy.

Andy’s primary role now is managing the technical department, including a technical team which deals with customer enquiries and provides technical support to the sales team, plus overseeing and developing the company’s Expert Installer training scheme. A relaunch is planned at the annual FIREX show in June.

Andy also works with Aico parent company Ei Electronics to research and develop new products. He represents Aico on industry bodies, including British Standards and CoGDEM (Council of Gas Detection and Environmental Monitoring).

Andy says: “Aico just keeps going from strength to strength and the speed of development is incredible. This, and the unique family feel to the company, really attracted me to Aico in the first place and I’m looking forward to where it’s going in the future.”

About the firm
