Fire doors for charity

by Mark Rowe

Delta Security, the CCTV and access control installer, has fitted new fire doors at a property managed by Brick-by-Brick, a London-based charity that provides permanent and temporary housing for people with homeless status.

The doors, at the charity’s Queens Road property, replace residents’ previous flat doors. The doors include intumescent fire seals, which consist of a strip on the door’s edge that expands if there is a fire, ensuring the door provides airtight protection against smoke and flames.

The project followed a recent fire risk assessment, and having worked with Delta Security for the last couple of years Isabelle Gravenstein, General Manager at Brick By Brick, approached them: “Delta Security is a company we trust to maintain high standards. Its engineers are helpful, reliable, and most importantly they understand the needs of our residents.”

Last year, Delta installed a Master Key Suite locking system into the property, which it was able to transfer to the new fire safety doors. The company liaised with all residents to minimise disruption and ensure each door could be completed in one day, maintaining the integrity of the security system. Isabelle says the installations went smoothly, and faster than expected: “Delta Security provided a one-stop-shop meaning we could replace the doors and locks at the same time. This was very useful for the residents, meaning they could leave their flat in the morning and come back in the evening and let themselves in with the same key. It was hassle-free, convenient and efficient for residents and housing managers alike.”
