BT add

BT announced that it is incorporating Cisco FirePOWER Next-Generation Intrusion Prevention System (NGIPS) into the BT Assure managed security services, for data and systems protection for BT customers.

Safeguarding network assets and data is a challenge for global businesses of all sizes facing what the telecoms firm calls the exponential growth in cyber security risks. Legacy systems are unable to provide full visibility into the network layers and IT resources of businesses, according to the company. In addition, they cannot put into context the information required to understand the scale and impact of potential security threats, it’s claimed.

Cisco FirePOWER NGIPS gives organisations visibility into their network layers. It gives an organisation contextual awareness of users, infrastructure and applications and protects the network against known and unknown threats before, during and after an attack, the firms say.

Mark Hughes, pictured, president of BT Security, said: “When it comes to security, it is all about rethinking the risk. Organisations need new technologies to combat rapidly evolving cyber threats. We work with world class partners to strengthen our security portfolio and help organisations master this ever changing landscape. Cisco’s FirePOWER NGIPS brings a very strong additional capability to the arsenal of security solutions that BT customers can deploy to protect their critical assets and be prepared for the future.”
