Vari-focal HDCVI cameras

by Mark Rowe

Dahua Technology, the Chinese manufacturer and supplier of video products based in Hangzhou, introduced two new vari-focal HDCVI cameras. They are part of the company’s HDCVI portfolio: the 720p IR box camera HAC-HFW1100R-VF and infra-red (IR) dome HAC-HDBW1100R-VF.

These two vari-focal HDCVI cameras offer the makers say clear and crisp images at 25/30 frames per second at 720p, and their focal length reaches 2.7-12mm, allowing a more flexible monitoring view. That means a single camera can be adjusted for different target area based on the user’s needs, and it only takes three steps to get focus-adjusting done: first, open the cover; second, loosen, rotate and fasten the screws inside, and third, put the cover back. According to the company this is suitable for small-to-medium size owners as in retail stores or hotels or schools.

The camera’s IR distance is up to 30m, providing night monitoring thanks to what the company calls a smart IR algorithm, which features non-LDR (light-dependent resistor) technology. The algorithm makes more accurate timing of ICR filer switching on and off as well as adjusting the infra-red LEDs current for better visual effect under low light. The three-axis bracket design of the box camera HAC-HFW1100R-VF makes the product 360-degree rotatable. The product’s IP66 rating is for protection against water and dust, and the IK10 rated dome can withstand sabotage.

John Li, HDCVI Product Manager at Dahua Technology, said: “HDCVI is picking up very promisingly and customers start to expect more. We take customers’ requests into consideration, and integrate convenience and ease-of-use together; meanwhile, designers follow ‘Bauhaus” to make the product simple and sleek, which is very pleasing outside. As is known, HDcctv Alliance launched analog HD standard ‘AT2.0’ on HDCVI basis, ensuring 100 per cent plug ‘n’ play remote control of any camera from any compliant DVR,” Li. “AT2.0 is open and interpretable, collaborating with partners in the HDcctv Alliance to jointly accelerate the global migration to HD. We will further refine and complete the product line to 2k and 4k in the coming version.”
