Thermal imaging

by Mark Rowe

Dahua has launched a thermal mini hybrid bullet camera, the DH-TPC-BF2120. Described as an entry-level product, it features a dual-channel spectrum, and measures 9.39-inches by 3.56 by 3.56 inches. The thermal deploys the company’s image analysis and intelligent algorithms in the optical camera, and integrates them into the thermal camera. This product combines one thermal camera for monitoring in total darkness and one optical camera with the Sony Starvis sensor to acquire high resolution colour images.

It’s connected at install using one IP address. Infra-red lighting at night captures detail. It’s for use in detecting fires; and in perimeter protection, where multiple cameras can form a perimeter intruder detection system, which performs as an invisible tripwire using thermal imaging. When installed at the recommended height of 5m and with a field of view of 56 degrees by 44 degrees, one DH-TPC-BF2120 covers a fence of 29m. Applications, the makers say, include parks, industrial estates and large car parks.
