PTZ launch

by Mark Rowe

Bosch Security Systems has added to its family of pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) cameras with its AUTODOME IP 4000 and AUTODOME IP 5000 models.

These motion control cameras help to locate, track and zoom in on details. They can identify objects of interest over large distances. Typical applications are retail stores and shopping malls, convention centres and casinos, the multi-national says.

The AUTODOME IP family ranges from the AUTODOME IP 4000 HD indoor model to high end models such as the AUTODOME IP starlight 7000 HD. All models are available in 720p or full HD 1080p resolution. The IP 4000 HD camera, with its dome housing, is designed to blend into the interior design of various applications and can identify objects of interest up to 95m away in full HD, thanks to its 12x optical zoom the company says.

The AUTODOME IP 5000 HD is for coverage of a larger area, indoor or outdoor, such as public spaces. Full pan and tilt control with the 30x optical zoom enable identification of objects of interest up to 190m away in full HD, according to the firm. For low light use, the AUTODOME IP 5000 IR camera ensures visibility up to 150m even in complete darkness, it is claimed. Its built-in intelligent infra-red (IR) beam is for illumination of objects regardless of the level of zoom. With privacy masking, the IP 5000 models safeguard the privacy of individuals when monitoring public spaces.

The AUTODOME IP 7000 models were introduced last year. For example, the AUTODOME IP starlight 7000 HD features the starlight technology of Bosch for coverage regardless of lightning conditions. Even in extreme low light (down to 0.052 lux) this camera still offers detailed colour images where others will have switched to monochrome, it’s claimed. Its built-in Intelligent Video Analysis (IVA) helps to focus on relevant situations by alerting only when needed and ensures the retrieval of data from hours of stored video. By combining up to eight of 16 available IVA rules, false alarms are minimised, the makers say. IVA also enables ‘intelligent tracking’ which automatically tracks moving objects based on pre-defined alarm rules or a click.

The AUTODOME IP cameras feature ‘intelligent defog’ to improve the camera’s visibility when viewing foggy or other low contrast scenes. Intelligent Dynamic Noise Reduction reduces bitrates by up to 50 percent to reduce storage costs and network strain. Since excess noise is reduced at the source during image capture, the lower bitrates do not compromise the video quality, the firm says. Local storage inside the camera can compensate for short network outages, so that video data is continuously available in Video Recording Manager (VRM) systems.

Since security managers cannot be in the control room all the time, the AUTODOME IP cameras fully support Dynamic Transcoding technology from Bosch, which – with the Bosch Video Security app – provides 24/7 remote access to camera controls, live video streams, recordings and HD images from anywhere, regardless of available bandwidth, the firm says. That is because Dynamic Transcoding automatically adjusts the bitrate to the available bandwidth to ensure smooth video streaming, when the video is paused at an incident, a full HD still image is shown.

Bosch IP standard-definition and high-definition cameras, encoders and analytics work with a range of security software and recorders from Bosch and other industry providers. This is backed by ONVIF conformance (Open Network Video Interface Forum) and the Integration Partner Program (IPP). Visit ipp.boschsecurity.com.

The AUTODOME IP 4000 and AUTODOME IP 5000 cameras will be available worldwide from June 2015.
