Industrial 4K camera block

by Mark Rowe

Sony Europe’s Image Sensing Solutions division has brought out the FCB-ER8300, pictured. Designed for security, surveillance and industrial applications, the FCB-ER8300 delivers true 4k resolution (3840 x 2160 pixels) at 30 frames per second (fps) the multi-national says.

Sony says that it will initially target security and industrial applications. The camera block’s small size and specifications also makes it suitable the makers say for video conference, inspection and medical uses.

The FCB-ER8300’s compact form, auto-focus, and low power consumption allow for integration into Pan, Tilt, and Zoom camera systems, the company says. Using Sony sensors and powered by a Sony image processor, the FCB-ER8300 offers four times the resolution of 1080 FHD video with 73.4 degree horizontal field of view. A 20x zoom allows for recognition and idenfication.

Other features include ePTZ, Advanced Noise Reduction, Auto ICR, and Visibility Enhancer. Nick Waple, Product Marketing Manager at Sony ISS called the FCB-ER8300 the world’s first MP industrial 4K camera block. “We are certain that this camera block will drive the market adoption of 4k, and the many imaging benefits that this technology brings.”
