960H camera series

by Mark Rowe

Samsung Techwin’s new 960H camera series enable high resolution 700 TV lines colour images to be captured in low light the makers say. From an installer’s perspective the Simple Focus feature can help reduce costs by minimising the time it takes to commission the cameras.

The two domes and box camera in the new 960H series come with Samsung Techwin’s Wide Dynamic Range feature which compensates for backlight 128 times more effectively than standard WDR, the company says. This with Samsung Super Dynamic Range (SSDR), which automatically adjusts dark areas of an image and Samsung Super Noise Reduction (SSNRIII), ensures quality images can be obtained including when the light may be as low as 0.1 lux. The new models also use Progressive Scan to optimise the video capture of moving objects, making it possible, for example, to read car number plates without a motion blur effect.

A push of a button at the back of the camera is all that is needed to automatically focus the camera via the Simple Focus feature which installers can also remotely access via a coaxial control enabled DVR. The Simple Focus automatically optimises the back-focus required for images when the camera’s true Day and Night function changes from colour to monochrome mode.

The models in the 960H series include Intelligent Video Analytics (IVA)which can assist in people-counting or the detection of activity by various means, such as tripwire and enter/exit direction, object appear/disappear and ‘tampering’, which creates an alert if paint is sprayed on a camera lens or there is unauthorised movement of a camera away from its usual field of view. The three models are all fully compatible with Samsung Techwin’s series of 960H DVRs introduced in March 2013.

The three models in the 960H series are:

•SCB-3003 box camera;
•SCD-3083 dome camera with 3.6x motorised varifocal lens, pictured; and
•SCV-3083 IP66 vandal-resistant dome camera with 3.6x motorised varifocal lens.

The SCB-3003, SCD-3083 and SCV-3083 are supplied with full support services from Samsung Techwin Europe Ltd, including free system design, free technical support and a full three-year warranty.
