ONVIF on six continents

by Mark Rowe

ONVIF, the US-based standardisation initiative for IP-based physical security products, now claims members from six of the seven continents, with the addition of Brazilian security products manufacturer intelbras.

Per Björkdahl, Chairman of the ONVIF Steering Committee, said: “As widespread adoption of our profile-based standards continues, we are gratified to see our membership grow in size significantly each year, from North America, Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa and now from Latin America. We extend a warm welcome to all of our new members.”

With more than 500 members and conformant products numbered at 3,500, ONVIF says it’s the largest organization of its kind in the world. Since its inception in 2008, the organization has seen its membership grow by 25 to 50 per cent each year, with the number of compliant products increasing by 250pc in the last three years alone.

The global representation of ONVIF’s membership broadens and deepens the dialog between manufacturers and systems integrators, according to Björkdahl, which will speed up progress toward greater interoperability between brands and products.

More information about ONVIF’s nearly 3,500 conformant products, including the vendors and the conformant models is available on ONVIF’s website: www.onvif.org.
