Welsh firm looks to expand

by Mark Rowe

Computerised and Digital Security Systems Limited (CDS) will expand at its base in Pontypridd after a £200,000 Finance Wales loan from the EU and Welsh Government-backed Wales Business Fund.

The company, which employs 35 staff, is looking to take on three more people. Specialising in CCTV, the company recently acquired GEM who provide intruder and fire alarm systems.

CEO Simon Moon said: “This investment will support our expansion plans. Security systems have changed a lot since the company was founded in 1985 and we’re increasingly looking to diversify our offering with more digital solutions. To do this we need to extend our base and take on more staff. Thanks to Bethan, Navid and the team at Finance Wales we’re now able to do that.”

The company provides all aspects of electronic security including CCTV, access control, gates, barriers, intruder and fire alarm systems.

Deputy Fund Manager Bethan Cousins said: “It’s great to work with ambitious companies like CDS who are really embracing the opportunities available in a changing market.”

Mervyn Ham of Iridium Corporate Services, who has worked with CDS during the past year as Strategic Adviser, added: “The team at CDS is incredibly dedicated. They have considerable experience in the security systems sector. Their growth through acquisition and expansion strategy has proven incredibly successful to date. Their strategy has been carefully refined to maximise growth potential in a changing market.”

And Investment Executive Navid Falatoori who helped structure the deal for Finance Wales said: “Simon came to us with an excellent business plan for growth. We’re happy to support CDS with its expansion which will bring much needed jobs to the area.”
