Site alarms for Greenwich Peninsula

by Mark Rowe

During London’s billions-of-pounds, largest single regeneration project, Greenwich Peninsula, pictured, alarms for building site workers are in use from Bull Products, a manufacturer of fire protection equipment.

Greenwich Peninsula in SE10 will feature neighbourhoods, 300,000 sq. ft of office space, 80 shops and restaurants, a Tube station and green space. Bull has been contracted to supply its Cygnus alarm to the 150-acre space for fire safety protection during work on site until 2022. As a wireless emergency fire, first aid, and intruder alarms for construction sites, the Cygnus radio fire alarm has been designed for specific use on construction sites, the makers say, where changing site conditions demand higher performance from the radio than those found in standard wireless fire alarms.

The site has also been provided with 40 First Aid First Responder Stations as a first aid centre for when an emergency can’t be reported at once. The stations can be moved to where and when they are needed the most as the site develops.

Matthew Trigwell, Sales Director at Bull Products, says: “Our alarm systems have been used on some of the most complex projects across London which shows the flexibility and adaptability of our system. At the height of activity, there will be 1,700 workers on site and we have no doubt that our alarm systems will protect workers, no matter what the complexity of the project phase.”
