Protective cover

by Mark Rowe

The new Smart+Guard from Vimpex is a polycarbonate hinged protective cover that can be installed over a range of call points, emergency switches and other devices. The product is for protection from vandalism, accidental damage or misuse.

The cover can also be fitted with an integral battery powered alarm that when lifted emits an ear-piercing 90dB alarm, warning the user that the device is for emergency use only and should not be tampered with. This alarmed version has a three-year battery life and comes with a low battery warning LED.

In its red form it is commonly installed over fire alarm break glass call points to protect the break glass from misuse or accidental damage and thus reduces false fire alarms. It is also available in four other colours. A break seal can also be fitted to increase the visible deterrence against misuse. To make it more resilient during daily use than some traditional products, it is claimed, the cover features fully rotational hinged cover, as more protection against vandalism.

The Smart+Guard Enviro model provides protection for devices exposed to hostile sites, such as off-shore, in the food and beverage industries, swimming pools and leisure centres, underground and anywhere exposure to the elements is likely to damage control equipment or switching devices.

The cover complements Vimpex’s range of alarm and evacuation products, which include fire alarm sounders and voice sounders, bells, visual alarm devices, call points, PSU’s, door holders, water leak detection systems, photoluminescent life safety signage and fire alarm accessories.
