Access Control

ISC West award

by Mark Rowe

At ISC West Las Vegas 2013, Remsdaq Ltd’s latest products; EntroStar and EntroWatch; have won the SIA New Product Showcase Best in Access Control Hardware and Software.

The Access Control Hardware and Software category looks for products that electronically allow and track the entry, movement and egress of persons in a commercial, institutional or residential application, and includes stand-alone, networked and appliance-based systems. A total of 17 companies made this the largest category in the awards.

“Judges commented that use of the BACnet open protocol and the Live Tile Dashboard were the driving factors in their selection of EntroStar and EntroWatch,” says Mark Williams, Business Manager-Security at Remsdaq.

EntroStar supports two doors and up to four wiegand compatible readers. Designed to communicate with any ANSI/ASHRAE 135-2010 (BACnet) compliant system, EntroStar is designed for integration of access control, security and building management systems. EntroStar is also available in a metal enclosure with optional mains powered DC supply and battery backup.

To complement EntroStar; Remsdaq developed EntroWatch, as a license free Access Control system to use a Windows 8 style dashboard management and control display. This means any menu is a maximum of two clicks away. EntroWatch has no hard limits for doors or cardholders being governed only by SQL Server Express in terms of database size and client licenses. Integral ID badge management, graphical maps and custom displays complete the standard facilities. Costed options include video management and extra clients.
