Electronic door handles for bedrooms

by Mark Rowe

Wendover Arms Hotel has seen a property makeover including installation of electronic security door handles, pictured.

The Wendover Arms in High Wycombe has been turned from a pub into a bed and breakfast, offering 21 guest bedrooms. Mul-T-Lock’s SMARTair electronic handles was specified and installed by local Mul-T-Lock dealers DB Master Locksmiths Ltd; as a check in process for staff and allowing card access to bedrooms for guests.

Bill Iqbal, Manager of the Wendover Arms says: “Retaining many original features, the recent conversion of the Wendover Arms to a bed and breakfast has been carefully planned to ensure an extremely high standard of finish. The security solution selected had to embrace the same philosophy.

“I was impressed with the style of SMARTair and the management software for my staff, which offered a much greater flexibility in design and ability to be customised to our own lock-up plan when compared to the other locking systems we researched. The result is a smooth operating business as guests can be checked in and out quickly and efficiently whilst access points we wish to restrict throughout the premises can be effectively managed by the staff.”

The electronic handles overcome many of the obstacles traditionally associated with access systems, the makers say. With no hard wiring required, installation time is reduced it’s claimed, and with no requirement to channel walls or expose unsightly cable ducting the system compliments its surrounds.

Steve Ross, Managing Director of Mul-T-Lock added: “For the Wendover Arms Hotel, the security specification was to deliver flexibility, convenience and useability, without compromising aesthetics, to ensure the smooth running of the new bed and breakfast facility. The SMARTair handles and management system achieve these objectives at the fraction of the cost of an integrated access control solution, with minimal disruption and presents a futureproof security solution for the hotel industry.” Visit www.smarthotelsecurity.co.uk.
