Access Control

Demo at Mobile World Congress

The multi-national ASSA ABLOY will license its Seos platform to identity and access management firms as well as application developers and consumers. The firm speaks of a range of interoperable, secure and privacy protecting mobile applications, enabling secure access to physical and virtual resources.

The makers say Seos is already in user at universities, enterprises, hotels and residential properties.  The product it is claimed eliminates the need for multiple credentials, such as an access card or physical key. Denis Hébert, executive vice president of ASSA ABLOY and head of HID Global, an ASSA ABLOY business, said: “People around the globe rarely leave home without their mobile devices.  To give them the ability to access everything from their home to their place of business, and everything in between, using one device, both securely and privately, is a convenience that Seos delivers on a grand scale.”

Seos, which can communicate over NFC and Bluetooth, can allow any smart device, from phones to tablets to wearables, such as watches, to become a credential.  Applications built on the platform do not reveal any unique identifiers to unauthorised readers, to prevent tracking. ASSA ABLOY will be demonstrating Seos at the Samsung booth in Hall 8.1 at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain from March 2 to 5, 2015.
