BSIA access date

Why have access control? is among the questions posed at a morning seminar by the trade association the BSIA, at Villa Park, the home of Aston Villa FC in Birmingham. You can arrive for the Tuesday, April 12 event from 9am for a 9.45am start. The event ends with lunch and you can have a tour of the stadium. For the timetable in full visit the BSIA website.

The speaker, Stephen Halpin, is a Security Consultant at FOUR Security Consultants Ltd. He will consider the operational benefits and challenges from a user’s perspective. Operational benefits include security and capability to appreciate building occupancy levels and efficiencies.

James Fee, Head of Corporate Key Accounts, Vacant Property Specialists will offer a view from the vacant property and construction sector, highlighting the risks and liability to property owners when unauthorised people enter empty properties and development sites.

Mike Sussman, Technical Director at the access control product company TDSi, pictured, will give an insight into the recommendations that can be found in the new BSIA Form 132, a source of advice to specifiers which now includes information about the new BS EN 60839-11 series standards.

Steve Bailes, Business Development Manager at Gallagher Security, will present on “Enforcing Business Policies” by using a security alarm management system involving health and safety. And talking of health and safety; Ged Baron of Peninsula UK will give a perspective on how health and safety problems can be overcome with access control and other health and safety considerations including policy arrangements and several case studies.
