Access software

The access control firm TDSi has launched the latest version of its EXgarde 4.1 access control software, which now fully integrates with its Harmony Alliance Partner Texecom’s Premier and Premier Elite range of intruder alarms.

Managing Director of TDSi, John Davies, said: “Offering full integration with Texecom’s range of alarm systems was a key feature in the development of EXgarde 4.1. As partners in the Harmony Alliance, a key goal is to further enable integration of our respective products, to make it easier for installers and end users to benefit from a holistic approach to security and access control networks. Integration with Texecom’s products provides an excellent way to combine the access control and alarm systems of an entire organisation or facility. Texecom’s systems have a well-deserved reputation for excellence and together with TDSi’s access control expertise, we believe the new integrated solution offers the most intuitive, powerful and yet simple way to monitor and control the security of any facility – be it a school, bank, hospital or commercial premises for example.”

Working with Texecom’s intruder alarm systems, EXgarde 4.1 automatically enables a pre-determined access control response (such as sealing doors in a certain area) once it has been alerted of an event by a zone alarm. It can split out the Texecom zone events so triggers can be added on a personal attack event for example and all zone types have their own events. This integration also offers an ideal way to adhere to the PD6662 (2012) regulations, which state that there should be visual verification of intruder alarms for compliance. John Davies elaborated, “All intruder events are stored in EXgarde 4.1’s event log and triggers can be set up for Intruder alarms to pull/trigger CCTV capture on that event type occurring. EXgarde 4.1 also stores all intruder events, so this adds flexibility to the intruder system which has more limited storage capacity to store events in the Intruder controller.”

Additionally, EXgarde 4.1 also features integration with Microsoft’s Active Directory; and Milestone’s video management software solutions. It is compatible with 32-bit/64-bit Microsoft Windows 7, Windows XP and Windows server 2003/2008, and supports numerous communication methods including TCP/IP, dial-up and GSM modems.

As well as compatibility with Texcom’s alarm systems, EXgarde 4.1 adds a further layer of security integration with TDSi’s VUgarde2 IP CCTV VMS software – providing access control, alarm and CCTV monitoring and control, all through one portal. In addition, the new version of EXgarde includes new functional features such as the ability to display live feeds from any CCTV camera on the network, simple tagging of events for video playback, user search-ability of recordings by date and time, and video verification – which alerts the operator to an event with pop-up live video.
