The event's venue has been switched to The Savoy Place, to cater for growing numbers, RUSI reports.
The Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) is the backbone and the lifeblood of the country, say organisers. Any disruption, damage or destruction to all or part of the CNI could result in grave consequences for the functioning of government, the economy and society.
Run by RUSI’s Homeland Security and Resilience Department, the conference will consider the requirement and implications of a holistic approach to the CNI, which takes in the private and public sectors, and demands an integrated and coherent security and resilience strategy, say organisers.
Invited speakers from the field of private security include Peter Ryan, featured in the February 2007 issue of Professional Security Magazine, now Head of Homeland and Critical Infrastructure Security and Resilience, Hyder Consulting; Andrew Wood, Director of Risk, SERCO; and Mark Hughes, Group Security Director, BT.
Other speakers invited include: John Reid, Home Secretary; Bruce Mann, Head of the Civil Contingencies Secretariat; Magnus Ovilius, Head of Sector, Preparedness and Crisis Management, European Commission; Simon Webb, Director General, TRANSEC; John Milne, Head of Business Continuity Management, Financial Services Authority; Mike Strefford, Head of Policy, Security & Assurance Vodafone.
