Installer 2020 Vision Systems Ltd has completed its 20th, and has also recently been awarded a maintenance contract. The contract required the North Shields-based installer to fit out the first 17 centres within eight weeks. Neil Titterington, Sales Manager, recalls: "We had three teams. Teams doing the first and second fix cabling were closely followed by commissioning engineers, who also trained the clients." Kit from distributor Norbain SD included Panasonic nine-channel hard disk recorders (WJ-HD309) with 250Gb hard disks, 15-inch monitors (LCD15), static dome cameras (WV-CF224) and colour-monochrome fully functional domes (WV-CW860). Monitoring is from each centre's reception desk, in opening hours. Cameras keep recording out of hours
What they say
According to Mark Allman, Head of Sport and Active Recreation for Leeds City Council: "Leeds City Council operates a wide variety of leisure centres and we continue to try and improve the service we offer to our customers all of the time. On-site security is a really important issue and we have been very encouraged with customers’ comments so far."
Of the chosen equipment, Mr Titterington of 2020 Vision says: "The quantities were large and we needed to be confident that we could get them from one supplier. The initial order involved 17 digital recorders, 17 monitors and about 100 cameras. Smaller suppliers wouldn’t have been able to provide it all in time, but we knew that Norbain could provide us with the quantities that we required. We are always happy with the service we get from them," he adds. The firm has fitted CCTV in a range of environments such as universities, hospitals, casinos, sports stadia and government offices.
