Airports are under pressure from rising passenger numbers while having to maintain the highest levels of security in the world, the well-being of the global economy is dependent upon the secure movement of vital commodities across oceans, and millions of people are using open public transport networks every day.
There has never been a more important time for government entities, law enforcement, military personnel, the security services, and security experts to come together with the aviation, maritime and public transport industries.
So say the organisers of Transec who are running a two-day conference on aviation, public transport and maritime security. Speakers include, from airports, Derry Murphy, Head of Security, Cityjet; and Chris Woodroofe, Head of Security & Business Continuity, Gatwick Airport.
Other speakers include Chris Trelawny, Deputy Director – Maritime Security and Facilitation, Maritime Safety Division, International Maritime Organization (IMO); and Mark Babington, featured in the May 2013 print issue of Professional Security, the Crime Reduction Manager, Centro and National Chair of PTEG Safety and Security Group based in Birmingham.
