Traffic management software

by Mark Rowe

The video surveillance product company Hanwha Techwin with analytics firm FF Group, has launched a suite of ANPR-based intelligent traffic management software. The solutions range from car park access control for business applications, to large scale city wide based systems, for safety purposes besides for detecting illegally parked vehicles and other traffic infringements.

The FF Group licence plate recognition application, which is effective the firms say with all European number plate formats, has been integrated with two Wisenet cameras. As a result, the Wisenet SNO-6095RH/FNP and XNO-6120R/FNP ANPR cameras can offer more than a 95pc recognition accuracy whatever the weather and even when vehicles are moving at speeds of up to 150 km/h, it is claimed.

Users can define up to 2,000 number plates in a ‘black and white’ list to automatically authorise or decline access to a site or car parking area, with each camera able to monitor up to three lanes of traffic. Recorded events include entry and exit activity and direction of vehicles. Alerts can be generated for crime prevention purposes, such as reducing incidents of non payments at petrol stations.

For large car parks, shopping centres and other commercial sites where there is significant traffic movement, the single-site Wisenet ANPR server solution provides an option. It is able to monitor images of vehicle traffic activity by up to 32 cameras, while offering online alerting, access control and utilisation analysis.

Cloud-based

Wisenet ANPR is also available in a range of cloud-based solutions which are designed for multi-camera and multi-site applications. Providing ‘intelligent’ data analysis and reporting, these include:

•Number Plate cloud: Reports include a photo of number plates, entry/exit timing and push notifications and alerts.

•Car Park cloud: for security personnel to have control over which vehicles have access to a site’s sensitive areas, such as loading bays. Reports generated include the level of car park occupancy, the number of free spaces, vehicles’ duration of stay and frequency of visits. It can also synchronise data between a number of different sites.

•City Traffic cloud: at city centre intersections and main roads, the Wisenet City Traffic Cloud solution provides local authorities and police with the licence plate numbers of vehicles involved in traffic lane or parking infringements. It also offers access to real-time traffic flow data, such as the average speed and the number of vehicles on the roads. More in-depth analysis for longer term planning comes from the data that is recorded on everyday drivers who travel into specific areas.

Tim Biddulph, Head of Product and Solutions for Hanwha Techwin Europe, said: “This is another example of how Hanwha Techwin is staying true to our promise where ‘WE MOVE with trust’. In the spirit of true partnership, we are working with specialist application developers and keeping to our promise to continually develop new, innovative solutions which make good use of the technology built into our high performance open platform cameras.

“Consultants and systems integrators when specifying analytics solutions can be assured Hanwha Techwin has carefully selected its technology partners, such as the FF Group, and has worked closely with them to achieve a deep level of integration. This means that end-user clients can look forward to enjoying the full benefits of an effective ANPR solution without themselves having to evaluate the myriad of specialist analytics solutions on the market.
