A five-year contract to implement an eBorders Advanced Passenger Information System
The firm says that eBorders will allow government and airport authorities in The Maldives to review passenger information even before aircraft land.
Hamid Fathuhulla, Deputy Controller of the Department of Immigration & Emigration, said: “Maldives remains a popular destination for travelers, attracting an increasing number of visitors from all over the world. We have chosen ARINC as our technology partner because of their industry leadership as well as proven expertise and experience working with the world’s airports and airlines. We are confident ARINC will meet our technology needs every step of the way as we continue to grow.”
“It is crucial for airports and other points of entry to meet their border security and control requirements while providing the highest levels of customer service. At the same time, they need to manage increased operational costs as a result of compliance to new security requirements and mandates,” said Michael DiGeorge, Managing Director of ARINC in Asia Pacific
ARINC’s APIS processes information electronically, and translates data into the formats required by border control authorities. Using industry-standard API messaging, it allows communication and sharing of passenger information among border control authorities in the country of destination.
APIS is a part of ARINC’s Electronic Borders portfolio of security to manage the entry and exit of travellers entering or leaving a country. It helps improve the security of national borders by providing advance data about passengers and crew.
