Smiths Detection, part of the business Smiths Group, has won a 12 million euro order to supply X-ray cargo screening systems to Azerbaijan which is modernising its customs services. The contract with the Caucasian republic comprises HCV (Heimann Cargo Vision) systems designed to detect a range of explosives, weapons, drugs and contraband concealed in trucks, containers, vans and cars.
Mal Maginnis, President Smiths Detection, said: “This major order again underlines our high energy cargo screening expertise. Over the last three years Smiths Detection has received multiple orders for X-ray screening and trace detection equipment from countries in the Caucasus. This latest reaffirms our position as the supplier of choice in the region.”
The HCV G cargo screening systems featuring viZual technology provide operators with radioscopic images of containers or vehicles. The load contents are shown in the X-ray image with organic and inorganic material discrimination and colour-coding based on atomic number, giving inspection results in a single scan.
