WZ EU partner

by Mark Rowe

Wicklander-Zulawski & Associates, the US-based interview trainers, have formed a partnership with ORIS Academy. After seven years in exclusive partnership with Cardinal Security, WZ EU will move across to partner with ORIS Academy – a division of the ORIS Group which was originally funded by the Cardinal Group and is now a stand-alone business.

Alan Grocott, pictured, will become the new face for Wicklander-Zulawski Europe training for the UK and Europe. Alan Grocott started as a detective with Greater Manchester Police then moved into retail Loss Prevention (LP) at HMV and Next. Alan was also involved in the development of ORIS Forums before accepting the WZ EU posting.

Alan used the Wicklander-Zulawski Non-confrontational Interview training techniques with effects at his previous job. He can speak on the impact the training had on his staff. In his new role he will head and deliver the WZ EU Non-confrontational Interviewing programmes in the UK and Europe.

Alan Grocott will also be the face of the Loss Prevention Foundation (LPF) in the UK and Europe. The Foundation has established a set of LP certifications for the UK retail industry, LP Qualified and LP Certified. The certification originated in the US and was launched in the UK at the end of June 2015. Wicklander-Zulawski provides the interview chapters for the LPF certifications and supports the professionalisation of the loss prevention industry.

Director of WZ EU, Chris Norris, CFI, who returns to Arizona from the UK in the autumn, said this week: “I can return home knowing that the brand and reputation of WZ EU are in great hands. Alan has been working closely with me in recent months and the breadth of his experience and knowledge makes him an ideal champion of taking the WZ Non-Confrontational Interview training programme forward in the UK and Europe.”

Louise Henham, MD of ORIS said: “There is a synchronicity between WZ and LPF because they are both about bringing on the next generation of LP managers and raising the game of the profession. LP is a greatly misunderstood role in retail, despite the fact that it touches every department in the business – from Finance to Legal, HR, Health and Safety, Merchandising and Operations.”

The Wicklander-Zulawski Non-confrontational Interview Techniques training courses and LP Foundation certifications will become part of the newly formed ORIS Academy – a business launched this year to provide education and awareness for loss prevention people. ORIS Academy is a part of the ORIS group of companies which includes ORIS Forums and ORIS Media.

The purpose of the ORIS group of companies is to facilitate opportunities for collaboration and education within the retail risk space with the ultimate goal of driving down losses and improving bottom line profits of businesses. ORIS adds that it has big ambitions for 2016. The business will be focused upon training more LP professionals in the WZ Non-confrontational Interview Techniques and increasing signatories to the Loss Prevention Foundation’s certifications.

Kerinda Ibbotson, Group Sales & Marketing Director, for the Cardinal Group, said: “We pride ourselves on being ahead of the game in the world of loss prevention and security. This is part of the exclusive relationship we have held with WZ over the recent years. It is now time for WZ EU and ORIS to embark on a new chapter of growth, ambition, and opportunity. We are very proud of what Cardinal Security has achieved with the WZ EU brand and now is the right time to combine the strengths of WZ EU and ORIS to position them for even greater success.”
