London resilience briefing

by Mark Rowe

Organisational and community resilience is the title of an October 8 breakfast briefing by the business body London First.

It points to the imminent publication of BS45000, a guideline on the standard to adopt for organisational resilience. An event speaker is Rob MacFarlane, Assistant Director, Resilience Training & Doctrine, Civil Contingencies Secretariat, Cabinet Office. He’s the chairman of the British Standards working group on that standard. As the briefing organisers say, the word ‘resilience’ is more in use in professional circles and job titles but as a concept it is not commonly understood. Hence topics include how resilience connects with other strategies and whether it is possible to measure resilience. Also a speaker is Alastair McAslan, Director, Strathfillan Consultancy, and former Director of the Torrens Resilience Institute, South Australia. Event sponsor is the audit firm PwC. Other briefings and round-tables before Christmas are covering cyber espionage; policing in the capital; reputational resilience; and designing out crime at the planning stage.
