London fraud date

Operation Hagley was a case involving an organised crime gang based in Rochdale, who defrauded 57 companies across the UK over 18 months, to a total value of almost £2m. The gang were sentenced in January and were jailed for a total of over 16 years.

Detective Sergeant Phil Larratt, Fraud Investigation Team, Serious Crime Division, Greater Manchester Police, is among the speakers at the annual London Fraud Forum (LFF) conference on Thursday, October 8. He’ll go through Operation Hagley.

Other speakers at the event, opened by LFF chairman Rob Brooker, include Mark Cheeseman, Deputy Director – Cross-Government Fraud & Error Policy, Fraud, Error & Debt Team, Cabinet Office; Robert Barrington, Executive Director, at the UK arm of the worldwide anti-corruption pressure group Transparency International; Alastair Barter, Senior Policy Officer, Business & Industry Group, Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), giving the watchdog’s view on data sharing and privacy; and, giving an update on the Met’s FALCON team, Jayne Snelgrove, Detective Superintendent, Metropolitan Police Lead, FALCON (Fraud and Linked Crime Online).
