For instance, organisers point out that the Ebola outbreak in west Africa are having repercussions in more distant countries as medical staff and travellers return home. At the same time, the ongoing but so far isolated bird flu outbreaks in various countries provide a reminder of the previous incidents of viral transmission to humans and the impact on business.
