IFSEC launch for installers

by Mark Rowe

UBM Live, the organisers of IFSEC and FIREX International, has launched Security & Fire Installer Live.

While the exhibition organisers describe it as an expansion of the IFSEC Installer event programme, it can be seen as a response to a rival event, Security Technology Live, that is planned for the Birmingham NEC in May 2014. To recap briefly, recently IFSEC announced that after the May 2013 show the event would re-locate to London, and change month from May to June. Hence rival event company Clarion, who run the Counter Terror Expo and defence event DSEi, announced they would fill the May-NEC gap left by IFSEC.

IFSEC in 2014 will run from June 17 to 19 at ExCeL Centre, London Docklands – a further change next year being a slimming of the show from four days to three. Annoucing their installer offering, UBM described it as a dedicated series for the installer and integrator market, adding that the major areas will be specifically addressed that this influential and important group of professionals have identified as critical to their business.

According to UBM, the Security & Fire Installer Live programme will provide three days of packaged content and features. With a deep understanding of the installer sector – from multinational organisations to the sole owner businesses – the importance of access to business critical information is recognised across leading industry figures and representative bodies (BSIA, NSI, SSAIB, FIA, LPCB, BAFE) by getting hands-on with products, industry networking, workforce education, product and specialist IP & Fire training and greater access to manufacturer technical teams.

Chris Pinder, External Affairs Director, National Security Inspectorate (NSI), said: “These are excellent trade shows within the Protection and Management Series that enjoy a first class reputation among both their domestic and international audiences. I have no doubt that the move to London in 2014, which is fully supported by the NSI, will take both IFSEC International and FIREX International to a new level. The shows will now attract even more buyers and specifiers, particularly from overseas.”

As part of a series of announcements around the Protection & Management Series 2014, Charlie Cracknell, Event Director IFSEC International, said: “Over 70 per cent of IFSEC and FIREX’s 39,000 annual audience is made up of installers and integrators, totalling thousands of active and engaged security and fire professionals. As a vital link in the security buying chain, the IFSEC and FIREX International teams continuously engage with the market and leading industry partners building an in-depth understanding of what installers and integrators really want and need to help run their business. The Security & Fire Installer Live programme will build upon all these elements from across IFSEC’s 40 year heritage and deliver effective solutions that the market needs. ”

According to UBM the programme will help installers to make those valuable connections with active buyers and professionals, through ‘Meet the Buyer’ where support will be provided to secure tenders and live projects. Visitors will also be able to stay on top of industry trends, with market and product education and training. With access to updates on client demands, needs and price points, as well as industry discussions around regulation, legislation and insurance. Visitors will also be able to get hands on with the latest kit available and receive live product demos in the ‘Plug and Play’ zone, giving more of an opportunity to try before they buy.

Another integral feature is the vast amount of opportunities available to meet and access key industry players. The IFSEC Installer Club will be new for 2014 and puts together benefits to ensure that time is maximised at IFSEC. Featuring specialised practical training sessions with a training company and one-to-one business coaching sessions, installers will have the advicefrom leaders in the industry. A date in the diary will be the Security & Fire Installer Live Annual Networking Event where 1,500 installers will come together on an evening.

Geoff Tate, Chief Executive, Security Systems and Alarms Inspection Board, said: “For the SSAIB, this announcement promises an opportunity to engage with an even wider audience of security and fire system installers as well as professionals, insurers, consultants and end users. The SSAIB looks forward to doing business at ExCeL London in 2014, and taking advantage of the forthcoming new attractions that will help benefit all visitors in 2014 and beyond.”
