Hikvision roadshow winner

by Mark Rowe

Chris Vokes of the Gloucester-based installer ASG UK was the winner of the trip to China, at the second of Hikvision’s series of roadshows in September 2016. Chris is pictured left with Darren Melia, Hikvision’s man in the south west.

Chris told Professional Security that he has been to China before, on business, in 1998. He’ll have a week in China, which will include a day at Hikvision’s headquarters in the city of Hangzhou. “I literally don’t win anything, so it’s come as a shock,” he chuckled after the presentation.

The trade-only event ran at Ashton Gate, Bristol, the home of Championship football club Bristol City, on Thursday, September 8. The first roadshow was at Sandown, London; and the following ones at Birmingham (Crowne Plaza, NEC, Tuesday, September 13); Leeds (Cedar Court Hotel, Thursday, September 15) and Glasgow (Hampden Park Stadium, Tuesday, September 20). Each of the roadshows (9.30am for 10am start) has a business card prize draw after the lunch, for a trip to China, and GoPro sports cameras.

Installer, end user and consultant guests heard not only the latest about the CCTV camera and recorder, number plate recognition, and door entry and intercom products from Hikvision, but updates from Pyronix, acquired earlier this year by Hikvision; and storage hard drive manufacturer Western Digital. Hikvision also detailed its VASP (Value Added Solution Partner) programme, for training, marketing, and project support for installers.

View on the gallery part of our website some pictures of those presentations, some views of the tea and lunch break, and the immaculate-looking Ashton Gate ground itself; and winners and their prizes presented by Darren Melia and Phil Wring of Hikvision. Mark Ryder of Hikvision distributor ADI Global won a WD drive. Also at the events are Hikvision’s UK distributors, ADI, DVS (which brought its demo van over the Severn Crossing from their base in Cardiff), Dynamic CCTV, ezcctv, and Norbain.
