Hearts and minds in fight

by msecadm4921

More IT security breaches are caused by so-called “hactivists” than financial criminals, according to a report by the BBC, as protesters push their various causes with cybercrime. The information security awareness consultancy The Security Company says it’s time to win the hearts and minds of employees in the face of this growing threat, and has issued new advice on how to combat hactivism in a report on the company’s website.

“Your workforce will always ask ‘what’s in it for me?’, so it’s important to align secure behaviour with their core values, as well as your organisation’s values,” says Hannah Tufts of The Security Company.  “Personal accountability certainly contributes to creating a more secure culture within the workplace, but this must be communicated clearly to avoid confusion.”
